V-Day flix

On Valentines day we attempted to go see Breakfast at Tiffany's at an old cinema in Notting Hill but apparently everyone else had the same idea and it was sold out. Instead we went to the Whole Foods on High Street, bought some V-Day necessities (cupcakes, strawberries, and champagne), and spent the rest of our day getting ready for our big girls night out to "My Gosh Marvelous Vintage Ball" at the Proud Camden Stables Market.

Proud Camden Stables Market is probably the coolest place ever. I read about this space way before I got to London and we finally made it up to Camden to check it out.

It's set up in an old Horse Hospital so there are still the actual stables inside of the space. During the day, people can come there to hang out in the stables, have food and drinks etc. At night, the stables are transformed into mini-lounges with people dancing and hanging out. When we were there the place was packed and everyone was dressed in their best vintage and dancing to the music of the 1920s and 30s.

I definitely want to come back to Proud Camden a few more times to check out a regular DJ night and hopefully a live show.

an update for slash

first off, i miss reptar a whole lot (did you get the tats?) but its okay because pretty soon we will have a house and summer will be a-may-zing. yesterday was the nicest weather we have had since we've been here. the sun was out, it was almost in the 50s and all i wanted to do was have a picnic and lay outside. it made me think of the west philly roof and how i wanted to move a picnic table and bbq up there. (except that ladder-oh man!!). i wanna go up there the minute i get back and play apples to apples and dance to GnR.
anyway! tuesday was pretty much the best night of my life. i couldnt believe that i was standing a few feet away from lindsay lohan. to those who do not and cannot understand my obsession, i'm sorry it's something i just cant put into words. it was like being in a dream. except babygirl looked like a hot mess.
kind of upsetting. the other girls there had on the most amazing shoes, though. i dont understand how they can walk in them. my puny heels on valentines day killed my feet so i opted for motorcycle boots with my dress.
the event was pretty awesome. when we got out of the cab, the paparazzi were waiting with their cameras and when they realized we were nobodies they turned around and waited for the next arrival. so we will not be featured on perezhilton any time soon. but we did get to walk on a red carpet and have our pictures taken in front of a few sponsor backboards. (one at this event and the other outside of the kensington hotel right on our street where the sony brit awards after party was). this event was a Brit Awards after party too but all of the proceeds went to relief for Haiti. So I guess Lindsay isn't a complete failure. It was also Kerri, one of my flatmates, 21st birthday. I couldnt think of a better place to celebrate than a celebrity hosted event.
So we danced, and stared in awe and attempted to get as close to Lindsay as the velvet VIP-only rope would let us.
Now, I'm off to Manchester tomorrow to see Dad and Uncle Rob and family (who I haven't seen in YEARS) Should be a good weekend and I'll hopefully get to finally have a home-cooked meal.
Next week is our adventure to London fashion weekend and then a flight to Venice the next morning!

Miss you Slash. Wish you were here.

ALSO-- take a look at these crazy Nina Ricci "heel less" boots:
That is a man, by the way. I should probably step my fashion weekend game up.

updates!
i have a few exciting things happening in the next month or so:
my two roommates and i just booked spring break in italy! we are dividing our week between venice and florence and hope to take a day trip to milan and have a day in wine country. i can't wait for the food! and the clothes! ohmygod the fashion!
i also booked a ticket to london fashion weekend so i get to actually sit and watch my first ever runway show! i have to start picking out an outfit, you never know whos gonna be there.
and then there's ireland in the middle of march. manchester next weekend. and possibly a trip to amsterdam in early april.
time is moving by pretty quickly, especially since we arent snowed in like everyone at home.
valentines day is this weekend and the girls are all going to the Proud Camden vintage ball complete with a fifteen piece band, dj, "fred and ginger" dancers and everything in between. I have a sweet vintage inspired skirt from Topshop that will be perfect for the "ball". Pictures that night will definitely be up as well as the ones I took during our Beatles walking tour. (a very unnecessary tour, but we did go to Abbey road and stood outside of paul's house)

here are some promised oxford flix:
walking up the steps where professor mcgonigle met the students in the first movie.

the alice in wonderland tree where the cheshire cat hung out

a long week

tuesday through thursday has been killing me with the hours dragging on and on. but my body is becoming more adjusted to being up and about at 8am. don't worry though, i'm still able to sleep in way past noon on my days off. (tomorrow finally!!!!)
so here is the breakdown of my past 7 days...

wednesday: our british mass media class took a tour of the BBC TV studios. it was okay, i guess.
thursday: internship all day and then went to an activites fair at imperial college. i really want to join a club sport, but anyone who knows me knows that i am not a sports person. they did have a ten pound a month deal for the imperial college gym so im gonna be checking that out tomorrow on my day off.
friday-sunday: MANCHESTER !!!!!!!!!! it was like being in an english version of philly--it was kinda hood and gritty and i finally saw some graffiti. ahh just like home. crazy times hanging out with chavs and scallys and feeling like a celebrity with our american accents. no one could understand why we were there, 4 american girls in ashton. everyone thinks americans are from california and are really rich. and oh my god! PRIMARK! its like topshop mixed with target so everything is super cheap. i got two pairs of flats for a total of 7.50.
so it was a great time and i cant wait to go back in two weeks. (and see you too, dad)
monday: we went to precious the movie. whomp whomp. i also finally made it to harrods and couldnt deal with not being able to afford anything. one day, one day.
tuesday: internship and skins allllll day and night.
wednesday: class.
thursday: right now. just finished my internship and am desperately trying to go out and just dance. i love the fact that i dont have to be up at any time tomorrow or do anything on schedule.

on saturday we are going to oxford and im so excited. ive heard its like being on set in a harry potter movie. i cannot wait. im hoping to spend the entire day there and ust explore and hopefully meet some co-eds (haha).

and now im going to rant:
so i live with a bunch of americans. i have class with the same people. we are all from philly. i have had the smallest amount of interaction with actual british people. this is not studying abroad. i do not recommend it.
don't get me wrong, i'm having a lot of fun but i just wish i was the only american.
